The Ministry of External Affairs denounced the Houthi strike on Saudi Aramco as unacceptable and affirmed India's solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
New Delhi – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a statement on Thursday condemning the recent Houthi missile and drone attack on Saudi Arabia's state oil company, Aramco. The ministry described the strike as "unacceptable" and a threat to regional stability.
In the statement, the MEA highlighted India's long‑standing partnership with Saudi Arabia, stressing the importance of safeguarding energy infrastructure that underpins global oil markets. It reiterated that any attempt to disrupt Saudi oil facilities would be met with firm opposition.
India also affirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia, calling for a swift and coordinated response to ensure the security of the Gulf region. The ministry urged all parties to refrain from actions that could further destabilise the Red Sea corridor, where Houthi groups have intensified attacks on commercial shipping and energy assets.
The condemnation comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with the Houthi movement increasingly targeting strategic assets beyond Yemen's borders. India, a major oil importer, underscored that the safety of such facilities is critical for its energy security.
