India’s exports climbed 19.63% year‑on‑year to $44.24 billion in July, while the trade deficit widened to $31.98 billion, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
India’s exports for July rose by 19.63% compared to the same month last year, reaching a total of $44.24 billion, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry reported.
The increase was driven largely by higher shipments of pharmaceuticals, information technology hardware and machinery, which saw a noticeable uptick in demand from key markets.
Despite the export growth, the country’s trade deficit widened to $31.98 billion in July, reflecting a larger rise in imports, especially in raw materials and consumer goods.
The ministry noted that the figures underscore the need for continued policy support to sustain export momentum while addressing the import surge that fuels the deficit.
