India's Aditya-L1 mission and the European Proba-3 satellite have jointly released fresh observations aimed at unraveling the mysteries of the Sun's intense flares.

India's Aditya-L1 mission and the European Proba-3 satellite have jointly released new data that targets the enigmatic behavior of the Sun's powerful flares. The collaborative effort marks a significant step in understanding solar activity that can affect space weather and terrestrial technologies.

The Aditya-L1 mission, launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation, is dedicated to studying the Sun from a halo orbit around the Lagrange point L1. Its suite of instruments is designed to monitor solar emissions, magnetic fields, and coronal dynamics.

Proba-3, a formation-flying satellite developed by the European Space Agency, provides high‑resolution imaging of the solar corona and complements Aditya-L1's observations with its own specialized payloads. Together, the two missions offer a more comprehensive view of flare initiation and propagation.

Scientists say the combined dataset will enhance models of solar flare mechanisms, improving forecasts of geomagnetic storms that can disrupt communications and power grids. The partnership also demonstrates the value of international cooperation in space research.

Future joint analyses are planned, with researchers from both agencies working to integrate the findings into broader solar physics studies, potentially informing the design of next‑generation solar observatories.
