A gold‑medal winning Indian athlete’s name was not included in the official list of recipients for the Rs 10 million Asian Games cash award, according to Gulf News.
The recently published list of athletes eligible for the Rs 10 million cash award tied to Asian Games performances does not feature the name of an Indian gold‑medalist, Gulf News reported. The omission raises questions about the criteria used to compile the award roster.
The cash prize, announced by the government to reward Asian Games medalists, is intended to recognize outstanding achievements on the continental stage. While several Indian athletes appear on the list, the gold‑medalist in question was conspicuously absent.
Sports officials and representatives of the athlete’s federation have sought clarification from the authorities, asking whether the exclusion was an administrative oversight or the result of a specific eligibility rule.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has not yet responded publicly, and the matter is expected to be addressed in upcoming discussions with the concerned parties.
