The Indian Coast Guard intercepted an Iranian vessel in the Arabian Sea and seized drugs worth approximately ₹3,000 crore, including high-grade methamphetamine and heroin. Five Pakistani nationals aboard the boat were detained.
The Indian Coast Guard intercepted an Iranian-flagged boat in the Arabian Sea during routine maritime patrol. The vessel was stopped after surveillance indicated suspicious activity.
Officers recovered packets containing high-grade methamphetamine and heroin, with an estimated street value of around ₹3,000 crore. The seized narcotics were packed in concealed compartments aboard the boat.
Five Pakistani nationals found on board were taken into custody for questioning. They are being held under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act while investigations continue.
A Coast Guard spokesperson said the operation highlights the force’s resolve to combat maritime drug trafficking and that investigations are continuing to trace the origin and intended destination of the consignment.
