The Indian Army, together with the Assam Rifles, destroyed 27 improvised explosive devices planted on a road in Kamjong, Manipur, as part of ongoing counter‑insurgency operations.

The Indian Army, in coordination with the Assam Rifles, carried out a sweep of a strategic road in Kamjong district of Manipur, locating and destroying 27 improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The operation, conducted under the ongoing counter‑insurgency drive in the region, aimed to secure the vital supply route used by civilians and security forces alike.

Security officials said the IEDs were discovered during a routine patrolling mission and were safely detonated by the bomb disposal squads of both the Army and the Assam Rifles. No casualties were reported among the troops or the local populace.

The successful clearance is expected to improve mobility for both civilian traffic and security logistics, reducing the threat of ambushes that have plagued the area for years. Local authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

The operation underscores the continued focus of the Indian defence establishment on neutralising explosive threats in insurgency‑affected parts of the Northeast, reinforcing stability in Manipur’s remote districts.
