Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the ongoing India‑US trade negotiations have reached a plateau, making further progress difficult.
New Delhi – Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told reporters that the bilateral trade talks between India and the United States have hit a plateau. She described the situation as "very very difficult to give more" in terms of advancing the agenda.
The minister did not provide specific reasons for the slowdown, but indicated that both sides are facing challenges in moving the discussions forward. She emphasized that India remains committed to deepening economic ties with the United States while seeking a mutually beneficial outcome.
Sitharaman's comments come amid broader efforts to strengthen Indo‑US cooperation across sectors such as technology, energy and defense. The trade dialogue, which has been ongoing for several months, is expected to resume once the outstanding issues are addressed.
No new agreements were announced, and officials from both countries have not commented further on the status of the negotiations.
