The decision comes amid rising diplomatic tensions between the two nations, prompting officials to reassess the terms and future direction of the pact.
Both sides have stated that the review will not disrupt ongoing joint projects or the overall strategic partnership, and that cooperation will continue in areas such as missile technology, naval systems and cyber defence.
The pact, signed a decade ago, has enabled India to acquire advanced weaponry and has facilitated the domestic production of critical defense components, strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
