India cautions that the Trump‑era trade dispute should remain a commercial issue, not a political tool.
In a recent statement, Indian officials warned that the trade conflict initiated by former U.S. President Donald Trump should not be used as a political weapon.
The dispute, which has seen the imposition of tariffs on a range of goods, has already affected trade flows between the two nations.
Experts argue that focusing on the economic implications rather than politicising the issue will better serve India’s interests.
The message comes as India seeks to maintain stable trade relations amid ongoing negotiations on tariff reductions and market access.
