India to Shut Multiple Roads from 4 AM to 10 AM on Independence Day

The government will close several major roads nationwide from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. on August 15 to facilitate Independence Day celebrations and ensure public safety.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced that a number of key highways and arterial roads across the country will be shut from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Independence Day, August 15.
The closures will affect major routes such as the Delhi‑Mumbai Expressway, NH 44, NH 7 and several state highways that pass through capital cities and major industrial hubs. Traffic will be diverted through alternate routes and temporary detours.
Officials say the move is aimed at preventing congestion, reducing the risk of accidents, and allowing authorities to manage large crowds that will gather for flag‑raising ceremonies and parades.
