India to Mandate V2V Safety Tech in All New Cars and Bikes from 2028

India’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has unveiled a new regulation that will make vehicle‑to‑vehicle (V2V) communication mandatory for all cars and motorcycles manufactured from 2028. The move follows a series of studies that link V2V technology to a significant drop in collision rates. Under the proposal, manufacturers will need to embed V2V modules that exchange real‑time data on speed, location and braking. The government estimates that widespread adoption could cut fatal accidents by up to 30% over the next decade. Implementation will begin with a phased rollout, starting with commercial vehicles in 2029, before extending to private cars and bikes by 2032.
