New Delhi will host the first-ever Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Civilisation Dialogue Forum, creating a new platform for cultural exchange among member nations.
New Delhi is set to become the venue for the inaugural Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Civilisation Dialogue Forum, a first in the history of the regional bloc. The event, slated for later this year, will be organized by the Indian government in partnership with SCO officials.
The forum aims to deepen cultural understanding and civilisational ties among the eight SCO member states, providing a structured space for scholars, artists and policy makers to discuss shared heritage and contemporary challenges.
Delegates from all SCO countries, including China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, are expected to attend, alongside observers from partner organisations. Their participation underscores the growing emphasis on soft‑power cooperation within the security‑focused alliance.
Indian authorities have highlighted the forum as an opportunity to showcase the country's diverse cultural landscape while reinforcing its diplomatic outreach within the SCO framework. The proceedings will include panel discussions, cultural performances and exhibitions that reflect the varied traditions of the participating nations.
The launch of this dialogue platform marks a strategic shift for the SCO, expanding its agenda beyond security and economic cooperation to include cultural diplomacy, a move that could influence future multilateral engagements in the region.
