India Targets Rwanda’s Critical Minerals as Trade Ties Expand

India is exploring opportunities to source critical minerals from Rwanda as part of a broader strategy to diversify its supply chain.

Rwanda is known for its deposits of cobalt, lithium and other strategic minerals that are essential for electronics and green‑energy technologies.

Both countries have recently intensified trade talks, with India expressing interest in investing in Rwanda’s mining sector and Rwanda seeking to attract Indian expertise and capital.

The move is expected to strengthen bilateral ties and provide Indian firms with new avenues to secure raw materials for the growing domestic demand for batteries and high‑tech components.
