India and Spain have agreed to speed up negotiations to connect India’s UPI with Spain’s Bizum payment platform, a move that could streamline cross‑border transactions.
India and Spain have agreed to accelerate talks on linking India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with Spain’s Bizum digital payment system.
UPI, launched by the National Payments Corporation of India, is the country’s most widely used mobile payment platform, while Bizum has become a popular instant payment service in Spain.
The proposed link would allow users in both countries to make instant cross‑border payments, potentially boosting remittances, tourism and trade between the two economies.
The agreement reflects growing cooperation in fintech and signals a step toward greater integration of digital payment ecosystems across continents.
