India has dispatched 5,000 metric tonnes of diesel to Bangladesh through the cross‑border Friendship Pipeline, reinforcing energy cooperation between the two neighbours.

New Delhi has supplied Bangladesh with 5,000 metric tonnes of diesel oil via the Friendship Pipeline that links the two countries. The shipment, announced by government sources, is part of ongoing bilateral energy arrangements aimed at ensuring a steady fuel supply for Bangladesh's power sector.

The Friendship Pipeline, which runs from India's eastern fuel depots to the Bangladeshi border, has been used for regular crude oil and refined product transfers since its inauguration. This latest diesel consignment underscores the operational reliability of the cross‑border infrastructure.

Officials said the delivery will help Bangladesh meet short‑term domestic demand and demonstrates the growing trade ties in the energy segment. Both governments have expressed intent to expand such cooperation in the coming years.

The move comes amid broader regional efforts to enhance energy security through shared resources and infrastructure, highlighting the strategic importance of the pipeline for South Asian connectivity.
