The Indian government announced that Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh recorded no crimes against foreign tourists in 2024, a first for the region.

The Ministry of Home Affairs released a statement on Tuesday confirming that no incidents of theft, assault or other criminal activity involving foreign visitors were reported in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh during the calendar year 2024.

This data, compiled from police records across the Union Territories, marks a significant improvement in security for international travelers and reflects ongoing efforts to boost tourism.

Officials said the figures were compiled from 1,200 police stations and 30 district offices, and that the trend aligns with the national target of zero crime against tourists.

Tourism authorities expect the positive statistics to encourage more international visitors to explore the region’s heritage sites and natural beauty.

The report comes as the government continues to invest in infrastructure and safety measures to make the area a preferred destination for foreign tourists.
