India monitors Nepal floods as water levels surge, prepares response

The Indian government is closely tracking the severe flooding in Nepal, assessing any cross‑border implications while senior officials stay in touch with state leaders.
Heavy rains in the Himalayan nation have caused rivers to overflow, submerging villages across Nepal's eastern and central regions. Landslides and flash floods have displaced thousands, with rescue teams battling to reach isolated communities.
New Delhi’s Ministry of Home Affairs has set up a dedicated task force to monitor the situation in real time. Satellite imagery and ground reports are being reviewed to gauge any potential spill‑over effects into bordering Indian districts.
Senior officials, including the Union Home Minister, have been in regular contact with state chief ministers to coordinate preparedness measures along the Indo‑Nepal border. Flood‑prone districts are being advised to ready relief supplies and reinforce embankments.
