India has officially charted 27 locations in Arunachal Pradesh, marking a strategic response to China’s recent renaming of the region’s places.
India’s Ministry of Home Affairs released a detailed map covering 27 sites in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, underscoring the country’s intent to counter China’s recent renaming of several places in the disputed border region.
The new cartographic effort follows a series of Chinese actions that have included changing the names of villages and landmarks in Arunachal, a move India has consistently rejected as an attempt to alter the status quo.
The map, which is now publicly available, lists the official Indian names and coordinates of the sites, providing a clear reference for administrative and security purposes.
Officials said the exercise is part of a broader strategy to reinforce India’s sovereignty claims and to ensure that local populations and border forces have accurate geographic information.
The move comes amid heightened tensions along the Line of Actual Control, with both sides conducting patrols and infrastructure projects in the area.
