India condemned the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for what it called 'willful blindness' during a UN General Assembly session, while reaffirming its stance on dismantling terror infrastructure in Pakistan and the Kashmir region.
India’s delegation at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday denounced the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for what it described as ‘willful blindness’ towards terrorism issues. The Indian side argued that the OIC’s silence on the presence of terror infrastructure in Pakistan and the Kashmir region undermines global security efforts. In a statement released by the foreign ministry, India reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling such infrastructure and called for a more proactive stance from international bodies.
The criticism came amid growing concerns over cross-border terrorism and the need for coordinated action. India highlighted that its own measures against terror networks in Pakistan have been met with resistance from the Pakistani government, and it urged the UN to address these challenges more forcefully.
The OIC, which represents 57 Muslim-majority countries, has previously been seen as reluctant to confront member states over security matters. India’s remarks are part of a broader diplomatic push to hold the OIC accountable for its perceived inaction.
The UN General Assembly session concluded with a call for increased cooperation among member states to counter terrorism, a point that India emphasized as essential for regional stability.
