At a United Nations session, India rejected Pakistan's claims and asserted that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh remain inseparable parts of the nation.
During a recent United Nations General Assembly meeting, the Indian delegation responded to Pakistan's statements concerning the status of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The Indian representative emphasized that both regions are constitutionally integral to the Republic of India and that any external commentary undermines the country's sovereignty.
India's rebuttal highlighted the legal and historical basis for its claim, referencing the Constitution and the abrogation of Article 370, which reaffirmed the full integration of the two territories. The delegation warned that attempts to internationalise the issue are contrary to established international norms and the UN Charter.
Pakistan, which has repeatedly raised the Kashmir question at various international forums, was urged by India to respect the bilateral nature of the dispute and to refrain from politicising the matter at the UN. The exchange underscored the continuing diplomatic friction between the two neighbours over the contested region.
