India has issued a formal response to China’s recent mapping changes that seek to leverage the 2005 border agreement, reaffirming its stance on the disputed territories.

In a move to counter China’s latest cartographic adjustments, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs released a statement on Tuesday.

The statement cites the 2005 Sino-Indian border agreement, noting that China’s new maps appear to reinterpret the demarcation lines in a manner that could be used to assert claims over disputed areas.

India reiterated its commitment to resolving the border issue through dialogue and rejected any unilateral changes that could alter the status quo.

The diplomatic exchange follows a series of incidents along the Line of Actual Control, underscoring the sensitivity of the region and the importance of maintaining a stable border.
