BloombergNEF’s latest analysis places India at the top of the Asia‑Pacific data‑centre market, ahead of all regional peers except China.

BloombergNEF, a leading clean‑energy research firm, has identified India as the largest data‑centre market in the Asia‑Pacific region outside of China. The assessment reflects a surge in demand for cloud services, digital platforms and enterprise IT infrastructure across the country.

Industry observers attribute the growth to a combination of robust internet penetration, favourable government policies encouraging foreign investment, and the rollout of high‑capacity fibre networks. Several global cloud providers have announced new data‑centre projects in Tier‑2 and Tier‑3 cities, expanding capacity beyond traditional hubs.

The report notes that while other APAC economies such as Singapore, Japan and Australia continue to develop their data‑centre ecosystems, India’s scale of investment and projected capacity additions outpace them. Analysts expect the trend to sustain as businesses accelerate digital transformation initiatives.

BloombergNEF’s findings underscore India’s emerging role as a critical hub for data storage and processing, positioning the nation to attract further capital and technology partnerships in the coming years.
