India and Netherlands Sign Two MoUs to Boost Water Management Projects

India and the Netherlands concluded two memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing water infrastructure and flood‑control initiatives, marking a new phase of bilateral cooperation in water management.
New Delhi, 26 September — The governments of India and the Netherlands formalised cooperation on water management by signing two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) during a ceremony in the capital. The agreements focus on joint development of sustainable water infrastructure, flood‑risk mitigation and knowledge‑exchange programmes between the two countries.
Under the first MoU, Dutch expertise in advanced water‑treatment technologies will be shared with Indian agencies to improve urban water supply and wastewater management. The second MoU targets collaborative research on flood‑resilient designs, leveraging the Netherlands' long‑standing experience in flood control.
Both sides highlighted that the partnership aligns with India's broader goals of enhancing water security and climate‑resilient infrastructure. Officials from the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management said the MoUs will pave the way for pilot projects and capacity‑building workshops in the coming months.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior ministers and technical delegates, underscoring the strategic importance of water cooperation in the Indo‑Dutch bilateral agenda.
