India and Nepal have signed an agreement to deploy advanced surveillance technology along their shared border, aiming to strengthen cooperation against cross‑border crime.

New Delhi and Kathmandu officials concluded a bilateral agreement to install high‑technology surveillance systems along the India‑Nepal border. The pact, announced by the foreign ministries of both countries, seeks to create a coordinated framework for monitoring cross‑border movements.

Under the agreement, both sides will share real‑time data from drones, CCTV networks and sensor arrays to detect illegal activities such as smuggling, trafficking and unauthorized crossings. Joint task forces will be set up to analyse the information and respond swiftly to any threats.

Authorities expect the initiative to curb transnational crime and improve security for border communities while preserving the historic ties between the two neighbours. Implementation phases will be discussed in upcoming ministerial meetings.
