Senior Congress leader Imran Masood has taken charge as Working President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, pledging to meet the party's expectations.
Imran Masood, a veteran member of the Indian National Congress, was appointed as the Working President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC). In his first public statement, he said he will strive to live up to the expectations set by the party leadership and work towards strengthening the Congress base in the state.
The appointment comes as the Congress seeks to revitalize its organisational structure in Uttar Pradesh ahead of upcoming electoral battles. Masood, who has previously held various party positions, is expected to coordinate campaign strategies, mobilise grassroots workers, and engage with local communities.
Party officials indicated that Masood's experience and outreach in the region were key factors behind his selection. He is expected to report directly to the state party president and align his efforts with the central leadership's vision for the state.
The move reflects the Congress's broader effort to project fresh leadership in its key northern stronghold, aiming to improve its performance in the next assembly and parliamentary elections.
