The India Meteorological Department says Mumbai can expect showers today as the monsoon retreats from parts of the country.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an update for today indicating a high likelihood of rain over Mumbai. Meteorologists attribute the expected showers to a shift in the monsoon trough, which is moving away from the western coast. Residents have been advised to keep umbrellas handy and avoid non‑essential travel during heavy downpours.

The forecast comes as the monsoon system withdraws from several interior states, reducing overall rainfall in those regions. However, coastal Maharashtra continues to receive moisture-laden winds, prompting localized precipitation in and around the city.

Authorities in Mumbai have reminded commuters to exercise caution on the roads, especially near waterlogged areas. The city’s drainage network is being monitored to mitigate flooding risks, and any severe weather alerts will be communicated through official channels.
