The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has been tasked with preparing comprehensive road‑safety action plans for three districts in Arunachal Pradesh, aiming to reduce accidents and improve infrastructure.
The state government of Arunachal Pradesh has engaged IIT Delhi to develop road‑safety action plans for three of its districts. The institute will assess existing road conditions, traffic patterns, and accident data before proposing engineering, enforcement and awareness measures tailored to each area.
The collaboration reflects a growing trend of leveraging academic expertise for public‑policy challenges, especially in remote and hilly terrains where road safety is a critical concern. IIT Delhi’s transport research centre will coordinate field surveys, stakeholder consultations and data analytics over the coming months.
The final plans are expected to be submitted to the Arunachal Pradesh Transport Department by the end of the year, providing a roadmap for infrastructure upgrades, signage improvements, driver education programmes and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
