IIT Delhi Graduate Jaya Sharma Becomes Gen Z IPS Officer, Former Haryana DSP

Jaya Sharma, an IIT Delhi alumnus, has joined the Indian Police Service, becoming a Gen Z officer after serving as Deputy Superintendent of Police in Haryana.
Jaya Sharma, a 1990s graduate of IIT Delhi, has been inducted into the Indian Police Service, marking a significant milestone for the younger generation of officers. Her academic journey began at IIT Delhi, where she earned a degree in engineering before pursuing a career in law enforcement.
After completing her education, Sharma joined the Haryana Police force, where she served as a Deputy Superintendent of Police. In that role, she was responsible for overseeing law and order in several districts and played a key role in implementing community policing initiatives.
Her transition to the IPS was announced earlier this year, following her successful performance in the UPSC civil services examination. The appointment places her among the youngest officers in the service, and she is expected to bring fresh perspectives to policing strategies.
