IIM Ahmedabad has clarified that candidates applying for its PhD programmes can submit applications for a maximum of two doctoral specialisations. The decision aims to streamline the selection process.
IIM Ahmedabad has updated its PhD admission guidelines, allowing applicants to submit applications for up to two doctoral specialisations. This change was announced in the institute’s latest admission brochure released in March 2024.
The move is intended to give candidates greater flexibility in aligning their research interests with the institute’s faculty expertise. Applicants must still meet the standard eligibility criteria, including a master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks and a strong research proposal.
During the selection process, shortlisted candidates will undergo a written test, an interview, and a review of their research proposal by a panel of faculty members. Successful candidates may also be eligible for the institute’s PhD fellowship, which covers tuition and a stipend.
The policy change is expected to attract a larger pool of applicants and encourage interdisciplinary research across IIM Ahmedabad’s various departments.
