An IAS officer was arrested after allegations of irregularities surfaced in the Karnataka veterinary officers' examination process.
An IAS officer was taken into custody on Thursday following reports that irregularities had been found in the recent Karnataka veterinary officers' examination. The officer, whose name has not been disclosed by the authorities, is alleged to have been involved in manipulating the exam process.
The Karnataka Veterinary Board had announced a new recruitment drive earlier this year, but questions arose about the fairness of the selection procedure. Investigations revealed discrepancies in the marking of papers and the allocation of seats.
The state government has said it is cooperating fully with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to probe the matter. Officials have assured that the integrity of the recruitment process will be restored.
The officer is currently held at a police station in Bengaluru pending further inquiry. The CBI has requested a detailed report from the Karnataka Veterinary Board within 48 hours.
