Hyderabad District Records 19.46 Lakh Absent, Shifted or Dead Voters on Final SIR Day

On the final day of the State Election Commission’s (SIR) verification process, Hyderabad district authorities uncovered a significant number of discrepancies in the voter rolls. The audit revealed that more than 19.46 lakh electors were marked as absent, shifted or dead, a figure that exceeds previous estimates and raises concerns about the accuracy of the electoral register. The State Election Commission has announced that it will undertake a comprehensive review and update of the voter lists, including removal of invalid entries and re‑registration of displaced voters.
