Bus operations between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were temporarily suspended in Hosur after protesters blocked key routes in support of the Mekedatu water‑diversion project.
The Mekedatu project, a joint initiative between the two states to divert water from the Kaveri River, has faced opposition from local communities concerned about environmental and livelihood impacts.
Transport authorities reported that several inter‑state buses were unable to pass through the town’s main thoroughfares, leading to a halt in scheduled services.
Officials said the suspension would remain in effect until the protest is resolved and road access is restored.
