Holistic Report Cards to Be Introduced for Class IX from 2026-27

The education board will roll out holistic report cards for Class IX students starting the 2026‑27 academic year.
The central education authority announced that from the 2026‑27 academic session, Class IX students will receive holistic report cards. This move expands the pilot that began with higher grades last year, aiming to provide a broader picture of student development.
Holistic report cards assess not only academic performance but also co‑curricular activities, life skills, and socio‑emotional growth. Schools will be required to submit data on sports, arts, community service and behavioural indicators alongside traditional marks.
Officials said the new format is intended to encourage balanced learning and help parents and teachers identify strengths and areas for improvement early on. Implementation guidelines will be issued to schools by the end of the current year, with training programmes for teachers slated for early 2026.
