Himachal Pradesh’s fast‑bowler Anirudh Sharma has been named in the Indian side for upcoming international fixtures, marking his first call‑up.
Anirudh Sharma, a 23‑year‑old pace bowler from Himachal Pradesh, was announced in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) squad for the forthcoming series against England. The selection follows his standout performances in the Ranji Trophy, where he claimed 32 wickets at an average of 22.5, and a series of impressive outings in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments.
BCCI officials cited Sharma’s consistency, ability to generate swing in sub‑continental conditions, and his disciplined line and length as key factors behind his elevation to the national team. This marks the first time a cricketer from Himachal Pradesh has earned an international berth in the senior men’s side.
Sharma expressed gratitude to his coaches and the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association for their support, while emphasizing his focus on contributing to the team's success in the upcoming matches.
The Indian team is scheduled to begin the England series in early December, with Sharma expected to feature in the pace attack alongside senior bowlers. His inclusion adds a new dimension to the squad and highlights the growing talent pool from India's hill states.
