The Himachal Pradesh state government has unveiled a new welfare scheme aimed at children of widows. Under the programme, eligible beneficiaries aged between 19 and 27 will receive a monthly pocket money of Rs 1,000.
The assistance is intended to help young adults pursue education, skill training or livelihood activities without financial strain. Applications will be processed by the Social Welfare Department through designated district centres, and the amount will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.
Funding for the scheme comes from the state’s social welfare budget and is part of a broader effort to support vulnerable families. Officials said the measure complements existing schemes for widows and aims to improve economic stability for the next generation.
