The state’s monsoon rains have fallen 8% below normal, indicating a weak monsoon season.
Himachal Pradesh has registered an 8% deficit in rainfall during the current monsoon period, according to the latest observations. Meteorological officials describe the monsoon as weak, with precipitation levels trailing the seasonal average.
The shortfall was identified through data collected by the state’s weather monitoring network, which compares current totals with long‑term norms. While the deficit is modest, it reflects a broader trend of below‑average rainfall across several hill districts.
Authorities caution that reduced rainfall could affect water reservoirs and agricultural sowing schedules, urging farmers to adopt water‑saving practices and monitor soil moisture closely.
