The Himachal Pradesh police have directed all schools in the state to enhance security measures and install closed‑circuit television cameras following concerns over safety.
The police department of Himachal Pradesh issued a notice to educational institutions across the state, urging them to review and upgrade their security protocols.
Authorities highlighted the need for visible deterrents such as CCTV surveillance, controlled entry points, and regular drills to prevent any untoward incidents.
The directive comes amid a broader push by state officials to ensure the safety of students and staff, especially in remote and hill‑area schools where law‑enforcement response can be delayed.
School administrators have been asked to submit compliance reports within a stipulated timeframe, and the police will conduct periodic inspections to verify implementation.
No specific incidents were cited, but the move reflects growing concerns nationwide about school safety.
