Farmers in Himachal Pradesh are benefiting from a new export deal that sends Sinduri pomegranates to Dubai, boosting their earnings.
The state government has secured a contract to export Sinduri pomegranates to Dubai, creating a new market for local growers.
The deal is expected to bring higher prices to farmers, who have traditionally sold their produce in domestic markets.
Officials say the export will also encourage better cultivation practices and improve supply chain infrastructure.
The first shipment is slated to leave the state next month, with plans to expand to other Gulf markets.
Farmers are optimistic that the venture will diversify their income and reduce dependence on seasonal sales.
