Himachal govt informs HC Shimla ropeway work halted over financial crisis

The state government of Himachal Pradesh submitted a petition to the Himachal High Court stating that the long‑awaited ropeway linking Shimla to nearby tourist spots has been put on hold.
Officials said the delay is caused by a sudden shortfall in funding, describing it as a “financial crisis” that prevents further disbursement of the project’s budget.
The ropeway, which was expected to boost tourism and reduce traffic congestion in the capital, had been slated to commence construction earlier this year, but no new timeline has been announced.
The court’s next hearing on the matter is scheduled for later this month, where the government is expected to present a detailed financial plan or seek alternative funding sources.
