The Himachal Pradesh chief minister announced a welfare package that includes an extra ₹20,000 in pending salaries for retired government employees.
The chief minister of Himachal Pradesh disclosed a new set of welfare measures aimed at senior citizens and retired government staff. Among the announced benefits, retirees will receive an additional ₹20,000 to clear outstanding salary arrears, a move intended to provide immediate financial relief.
The package also includes provisions for health subsidies, pension enhancements and other social security supports, though detailed guidelines are expected to be issued in the coming weeks. Officials said the scheme will be funded through the state’s existing welfare budget without imposing new taxes.
Implementation is slated to begin next month, with the finance department tasked with processing the arrears and disbursing the funds to eligible retirees across the state.
