Himachal CM Sukhu Calls on Tourism Sector to Spotlight Lesser‑Known Destinations

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu urged Himachal's tourism players to promote lesser‑known spots to broaden the state's visitor base.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu appealed to the state's tourism stakeholders to give greater visibility to destinations that remain outside the usual tourist circuit.
He noted that while Shimla, Manali and a few other towns attract the bulk of visitors, numerous valleys, heritage villages and adventure locales have untapped appeal that could diversify inflows and support local livelihoods.
Sukhu urged collaborative marketing, better road and digital connectivity, and incentives for operators to develop eco‑friendly facilities in these areas, promising government policy support and funding where needed.
The call comes as Himachal seeks to recover from a post‑pandemic dip in arrivals and aims to position itself as a year‑round destination beyond the traditional summer‑winter peaks.
