The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh inaugurated a new 200-bed facility at Chamba Medical College Hospital, expanding healthcare services in the region.

On Thursday, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, formally opened a new 200‑bed ward at Chamba Medical College Hospital, marking a significant upgrade to the region’s medical infrastructure. The ceremony, held in the hospital’s main auditorium, was attended by senior state officials, medical staff and local residents.

The newly inaugurated facility will provide a range of services including general medicine, surgery, obstetrics and intensive care. Equipped with modern diagnostic equipment and a dedicated emergency unit, the ward is expected to reduce patient waiting times and improve treatment outcomes for the rural population of Chamba and surrounding districts.

Health authorities anticipate that the expansion will increase the hospital’s annual patient capacity by 30 percent, addressing long‑standing shortages of inpatient care in the area. The state government has also announced plans to further develop allied health services in the coming years.
