Apple growers in Himachal Pradesh have fired a cannon at storm clouds in an attempt to stop hail, but scientific experts warn the method may be ineffective.
Apple farmers in Himachal Pradesh have reportedly fired a cannon at storm clouds in an effort to prevent hail from damaging their crops.
The tactic, aimed at disrupting hail formation, involves launching a projectile into the cloud layer during a storm.
However, meteorological scientists caution that the practice is unlikely to alter the complex atmospheric processes that produce hail.
If the method proves ineffective, growers could face significant losses, underscoring the need for more reliable hail‑control technologies.
