The Punjab and Haryana High Court has flagged a disturbing trend of organised gangs and sleeper cells operating in Gurugram and Faridabad, urging authorities to take action.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today highlighted a concerning rise in organised gang activity and the presence of sleeper cells in the cities of Gurugram and Faridabad. The court’s observation comes amid growing concerns over the security of these rapidly developing urban centres.

Both Gurugram and Faridabad have seen significant economic growth, attracting a diverse workforce. However, the court noted that this growth has also created opportunities for criminal networks to establish footholds.

In its statement, the court urged law‑enforcement agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and community policing to dismantle these networks before they can expand further.

The court’s warning is expected to prompt a review of current security protocols and could lead to increased coordination between state and central agencies in the region.
