In response to traffic disruptions caused by recent anti-ISR protests, the Karnataka High Court has directed that all demonstrations in Bengaluru be confined to Freedom Park, sparking widespread debate among residents and activists.

The Karnataka High Court has issued a directive that all public protests in Bengaluru must be held exclusively at Freedom Park, following a surge of anti-ISR demonstrations that caused significant traffic congestion across the city.

The ruling was prompted by the need to maintain smooth traffic flow in public spaces while allowing citizens to exercise their right to protest. Freedom Park, a large open area in the heart of the city, has been chosen as the sole venue to centralise demonstrations and minimise disruptions to commuters.

The decision has ignited a heated debate within the public sphere, with members of the BMBP and local residents expressing concerns over the restriction of protest sites. Critics argue that limiting protests to a single location could impede the expression of dissent and create logistical challenges for organizers.

City officials have indicated that the High Court’s directive will be enforced from the coming week, and they have called for cooperation from protest organizers to ensure public safety and orderly conduct at Freedom Park.
