The court observed that earlier practices varied, leading to inconsistencies, and emphasized that the inclusion of the UGC representative aligns with statutory provisions governing higher education institutions.
Universities and state governments have been instructed to amend their selection procedures accordingly, aiming for greater transparency and consistency.
