The Delhi High Court ordered protection from arrest for Mohammed Shami’s brother, who faces accusations of forging a relationship on a social media platform.

The Delhi High Court has issued an order shielding Mohammed Shami’s brother from arrest pending further investigation. The court’s protection order came after the accused was charged with allegedly establishing a personal relationship with a woman through a social‑media site, reportedly Facebook.

According to the filing, the police alleged that the relationship was used to further illegal activities, prompting a request for the brother’s arrest. The defence argued that the arrest would be premature and that the accused was cooperating with investigators.

In response, the bench granted a temporary protection from arrest, allowing the accused to remain free while the case proceeds through the regular legal process. The order does not equate to acquittal; it merely ensures that the accused will not be taken into custody until the court decides on the merits of the arrest request.

Legal experts note that such protective orders are common in cases where the accused claims cooperation and where immediate detention is not deemed necessary. The matter remains under investigation, and further hearings are scheduled to determine whether formal charges will be filed.
