A spell of intense rain hit several parts of Delhi, causing waterlogging and forcing commuters onto the streets, where passersby assisted those stuck in the deluge.
Delhi experienced a sudden downpour early today, with rain intensity described as heavy across multiple districts. The sudden surge of water led to waterlogged roads, particularly in low‑lying neighborhoods, disrupting traffic and forcing many commuters to abandon their vehicles.
Pedestrians were seen moving through the flooded streets, offering assistance to stranded travelers. Several eyewitnesses reported that locals helped lift soaked bags, guided people to higher ground, and even carried elderly passengers to safety.
Authorities from the Delhi Municipal Corporation have deployed additional drainage teams and issued advisories urging residents to avoid non‑essential travel until the rain subsides. No major injuries have been reported so far, but the situation remains fluid as the weather system moves eastward.
The city’s weather department warned that more showers could follow later in the evening, prompting officials to monitor water levels in critical areas and keep emergency services on standby.
