Meteorological Department reports very heavy rainfall across Rajasthan, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Odisha, prompting rain alerts for several other states.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a very heavy rain alert for Rajasthan, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Odisha after sustained rainfall across the regions. The alert, which covers the entire duration of the monsoon season, advises residents to take precautionary measures and stay updated on weather updates.

In addition to the four states mentioned, the IMD has extended rain alerts to several other states, including Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The alerts are aimed at preventing flash floods and waterlogging in vulnerable areas.

Local authorities in the affected states have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying areas, and to keep emergency kits ready. The IMD has also requested that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) be on standby in case of severe flooding.

Meteorologists predict that the heavy rainfall will continue for the next few days, with the possibility of further rainfall over the coastal regions. Residents are advised to monitor local news and the IMD’s official website for real‑time updates.
