Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has killed seven people and triggered landslides that have blocked the Dehradun‑Mussoorie road.

The state of Uttarakhand experienced intense rainstorms that resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, according to local authorities. The downpour also caused multiple landslides along the Dehradun‑Mussoorie highway, rendering the main arterial route impassable.
Rescue teams were dispatched to the affected zones, focusing on locating missing persons and clearing debris. Officials warned motorists to avoid the highway until the landslides are cleared and safety checks are completed.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fatalities occurred in villages situated near the highway, where the sudden surge of water and soil destabilised slopes. The disaster highlights the region's vulnerability to extreme weather events during the monsoon season.
State disaster management officials have activated emergency response protocols and are coordinating with the National Disaster Response Force for relief operations. The road blockage is expected to cause significant disruption to traffic between Dehradun and the popular hill station of Mussoorie.
Authorities have urged residents to stay alert, follow official advisories, and cooperate with rescue personnel as the situation develops.
